A recent assignment came up and I was asked if I would photograph a time share facility in Hartenbos, South Africa. They required new photographs for their website, marketing material and electronic copies for their marketing partners. The assignment was done over a period of about 4 weeks as we had to wait for some nice weather before doing the outside shots. No use in trying to market a property, resort or holiday spot with grey cloud above. You have never seen Mauritius being advertised with grey rainy weather, have you?
With the outside photos out of the way, I started focusing on the rooms. That is what took the longest. You can only take photos when the unit is not occupied. You can also only do the photo work when the rooms have been cleaned. Check out is at 10h00 and check in for the new holiday makers is at 14h00. In between those few hours, they have to clean and you have to be ready to shoot once they are done.
Some other challenges that present themselves when doing these jobs are the cramped spaces, lighting challenges with regards to colour cast, getting enough light from one end of the room to the other. In addition to that is the distortion you have to deal with photographing at between 10-15mm focal length.
All in all it went well and the CD’s were delivered to the client on time. These are some of the images that were sent to the client and some of the surrounding facilities.
Keep well and have a super day!
