Living at the coast along the scenic Garden Route of South Africa has its advantages. One, it’s peaceful, two, you get to see surfing almost every day. Surfing photography is therefore a natural past time for me.
Combine that with a little bit of time, camera knowledge, and a love for shooting and you can’t help yourself. I shoot mainly in the area of Mossel Bay, but always make time when close to the surfing spots to check out the waves. All about timing and light, the perfect surfing shot delivers an absolute rush to the senses. Smell the waves, hear the lingo, see the crest, and time the break.
I have had some work published in local surfing magazines as well, like Zigzag. Surfing photography brings the world of surfing onshore, for everyone to enjoy.
Just like my Nguni photography, this is another way that I enjoy the world through my lens. Some more images can also be seen on my Facebook page.
