I recently had the pleasure of shooting (pardon the pun) a family with Italian blood flowing thickly through their veins. They contact me and asked if I would be willing to do a photo shoot for them with the theme of the Italian Mafia. I was super excited and my mind started spinning immediately.
In my minds eye I could see smoke filled rooms, shotguns, poker table with pistols and revolvers lying on the table. We decided to to do the shoot in a functioning and working workshop with all the wood, scaffolding and tools in the background. This created all the mood I could ask for and made for some fantastic photos. I met the clients at their home and after short while we moved over to the workshop about 3km from their home. My heart was racing…I had done all my research and scouting but was still intimidated…more by the excitement than the fact that I would be staring down the barrel of a shotgun, a pistol and a revolver within the hours to come.
Needles to say it was awesome…everyone got into character and we had a blast. All in all it was a good shoot…especially since it was my first with my new Pocketwizard Plus X units…more on these later.
So if you are planning a themed shoot or have always had something like that in mind….give us a shout. The Italians liked it….I am sure you will too
